Changes Everything

Teresa Lauer, LMHC

I have owned my private practice since 1996, providing therapy and coaching to individuals and couples. I found over time however, that a large majority of my couples (similar to society at large) were, in actuality, suffering from financial behavior issues, masquerading as some of the more common disorders such as depression and anxiety.  In helping my clients break through the taboo of talking about money issues and how it affected their relationships, self-worth and even their career choices, I found my passion! I love what I do and welcome the opportunity to be of help to you as well.

My knowledge and expertise has a therapeutic foundation of over 16,000 client hours covering a span of two decades in treating and training clients who include:
  • Executives (Managers and C-Suite) and Professionals (Attorneys, Physicians)
  • Finance Professionals interested in learning more about the emotional and psychological challenges facing their clients
  • Psychotherapists and Coaches interested in adding Financial Behavior as a niche in their private practice or in examining their own Financial Behavior issues
  • Individuals and couples experiencing money disorders such as workaholism, perfectionism, shame, denial and relationship difficulties or who are experiencing transitional issues
  • Individuals and couples experiencing problematic money behaviors such as overspending, underspending, financial dependency or enabling, vow of poverty and poor investment decisions
  • Women who have been recently widowed
  • Women who have recently separated or become divorced
  • Individuals experiencing career transitions, including working overseas, promotions
  • Individuals who have received an ADHD diagnosis
  • Individuals who have acquired sudden wealth
  • Individuals preparing for and experiencing retirement
  • Couples who are preparing for simultaneous and staggered retirement (one partner is retiring while the other will continue working)
As a relationship expert, my approach is Solutions-Focused to which I add additional, extensive training in Applied Behavior, Cognitive Behavioral Therapy (CBT) and Mindfulness Meditation, as appropriate, in treating the following:
